Why use cloth nappies?

They are better for the environment. Around 8 millions disposable nappies are thrown away every day in UK. Cloth nappies do not contribute to landfill and water contamination.

They can save you money

Washing nappies at home can save you £500 on the cost of keeping a baby in nappies, even more if you use them on siblings.

They are more natural

Most disposable nappies are made from paper pulp, plastics and super absorbent chemicals. Real nappies are made of natural fabrics.

They are convenient

Modern nappies are not what they used to be. They have advanced considerably over recent years. They are easy to use. You don't have to boil wash them. Simply wash them at 60 0c. No need to soak them simply put them into a dry bucket with a lid on until you are ready to wash them.

They put you in control

You can reduce your environmental impact further by using eco friendly detergent, line drying, avoiding fabric softeners and choosing organic and natural fabrics.

What do I need to get started?

We recommend starting with 20-25 nappies, this is enough to wash every second day with a few to spare. You will need at least four covers per size, ideally 5 or 6 for a newborn. Five booster pads for night time use and heavy wetters plus one pack of liners.

The above is all you need to get started!

Washable nappies

We have chosen a selection of our favourite shaped nappies in bamboo, hemp, and organic cotton. All tried and tested on our own children. We stock awarding winning Tots bots, Sckoon and Baby Beehinds. First choose your nappy and then choose your wrap. Don't worry if they are not the same brand. We found that you can mix them to suit yourself. It's recommended that you also use a liner.
